Description

This is a sculpted thylacoleo carnifex jaw set that is an artist’s (yes, I’m the artist) reconstruction of the jaws and teeth of this extinct Australian predator. Thylacaleo was a vaguely cat-like marsupial carnivore that was about the size of a very large jaguar. It has been extinct for at least 20,000 years and was the largest know carnivorous marsupial ever to inhabit Australia. This is a life-sized reconstruction which I based on images and descriptions of publicly accessible fossil material and also an older full skull reconstruction dating from the 1920’s. This cast would be great for school or other educational use, and would also work well for masks, costumes, fursuits, or other crafts.
